6) It's Always Something (Friday Noon-2pm) - This is the show that got me excited about the station nearly 15 years ago. And well, the format hasn't changed at all. Basically a potpourri of musical oddities. Each show still has me scratching my head wondering Where the heck did Brian find that song?
7) Cap'n Pete's Blues Cruise (Friday 9-Midnight) - The best part of this program isn't the music (though it's excellent, of course) but when our host Mr. Dee Henderson comes on the mic and shares with us his own personal stories about the artists. A true legend at work!
8) Psychedelicatessen (Sunday 6-8pm) - Randy (of Randy and the Radiants no less!) takes us back to the 60's each week for some classic rock favorites as well as those left of the dial should've been hits. One listen to Randy's laugh and you'll understand why he's one of the most charismatic folks on WEVL. This show would be the most fun to sub! (hint hint)
9) The Tuesday Morning Show (Tuesday 6-8am) - While I am fond of all the early morning programs, I am hardly up at that hour. However, it seems to work out that if I am moving around before 8am it's usually on a Tuesday. With a variety of hosts (Janet of Janet's Planet Wednesday 6-8am), Darryl of The Modern World Friday 6-8am, and now Melissa) this show serves up a healthy dose of old and new indie rock. But don't be surprised to hear something a bit out of the ordinary thrown into the mix like last week when Melissa followed up The Pixies "Letter to Memphis" with Stevie Wonder's "You Are the Sunshine of My Life."
10) Singing Down In Dixie (Sunday 6-10am) - There is no better way to start a Sunday morning than with the voice of Charlie May introducing one gospel quartet after another. I'm not sure how long Mr. May has been providing this service, but I do know it will be a dark day when he decides to retire the show. One of my all time favorites!
