Intonation Music Festival

So I am in Chicago attending the Intonation Music Festival. I'm really looking forward to seeing: The Go! Team, Prefuse 73, Four Tet, Tortoise, Deerhoof, Thunderbirds Are Now!, Dungen, and the Will Oldham DJ Set. And I'm not complaining at all about getting the chance to see The Decemberists, Andrew Bird, and Out Hud for the second time this year. For a complete list of the artist lineup, click here.

I'll try to post some pictures when I can...

The Memphis Beat Summer School - Week 4

I am very pleased to announce that author Ron Hall, who wrote the very entertaining book Playing For A Piece Of The Door: A History of Garge and Frat Bands in Memphis 1960-1975, will be our guest for Week Number 4 of the Memphis Beat's Summer School Sessions. From the Shangri-La Projects website:

A History of Garage and Frat Bands in Memphis, 1960-75 is an amazing candid history and discography of over one hundred garage bands who recorded at least one record in Memphis from 1960-75. Great pictures to boot! Ron Hall researched and wrote this definitive account of the garage era in Memphis. Indispensable!
