My Sufjan Stevens Tickets Came In Today!

I'm so excited! I received my tickets today for the Sufjan Stevens show next weekend in Nashville at the Mercy Lounge. If you aren't familiar with Sufjan Stevens (which is a bit hard to imagine really) I strongly recommend you pick up his last three records Greetings from Michigan, Seven Swans, and his latest opus Illinois. Illinois holds the honor of being the only album spotlighted on an entire edition of The Music Lovers. Don't be surprised to find it at the top of the list on many a critic's best album of the year.

Shangri-La Record Swap - What I Picked Up

Well, it was a fun time hanging out at the Shangri-La Record Swap/Bake Sale where all proceeds went to the American Red Cross to help victims of Hurricane Katrina. I was able to make a small donation through multiple food purchases (burgers, cookies, sweet potato pie) and records (Lost Sounds "Black-Wave," Jerry Lee Lewis "Sings the Country Music," "The Golden Cream of the Country", T. Rex "Electric Warrior," "Talking Heads "Stop Making Sense," "Mike Oldfield "Tubular Bells," and Procol Harum "Procol Harum"). Due to the heat, I had to miss out on the Mouserocket performance but I am sure those who roughed it out were highly entertained. Nice job Shangri-La, sponsor Goner Records, and everyone else who contributed, Charles from the Buccaneer, Charlie's Meat Market, Square Foods, and everyone who made something for the bake sale!
