Sufjan Stevens - Photos from Nashville

The evening started with a two hour line just to get into the club!

Sufjan Stevens and the Illinoisemakers opened up their set with "The 50 States" song.

The Illinois State Seal is proudly displayed.

It's cheer time!

The Walkmen w/Richard Swift - The Evidence

The Walkmen performed a highly energetic show last night at the Hi Tone. Above singer Hamilton Leithauser pleases the crowd with the hit "We've Been Had" from the 2002 album Everyone Who Pretended To Like Me Is Gone.

The boys ended the show with the cover "(I'm Not Your) Stepping Stone".

The show started a bit early than I expected but I still got to see the last four songs from Richard Swift's set.

The Walkmen Play the HiTone!

The Walkmen will be making a rare apperance in Memphis on Tuesday night at the Hi Tone. Their 2004 release Bows and Arrows was one of the most critically acclaimed records of that year and the explosive single "The Rat" was number 5 on the Lover's Top 20 singles of 2004 show. I have a friend that would listen to "The Rat" each morning on his way to work just to get ready for the day ahead. He really could have picked any number of songs from The Walkmen to get that same feeling.

Opening for The Walkmen is Richard Swift whose albums The Novelist and Walking Without Effort have both been reissued on Secretly Canadian. I really enjoy Swift's sound and look foward to seeing how it all translates to a live audience.

Hi Fidelity Becomes A Blog

If you are a regular listener of the Lovers than you know there is one show on WEVL that I plug more than any other. And that is the always excellent Hi Fidelity, which comes on every Wednesday night between Midnight - 2AM (and repeated Monday afternoons between 2-4). For the past months, the show has had a home on a Myspace page but host Doug has now moved into the blog world. You can check out the new site here.
